Diplomat Restaurant Responds to Covid-19

Working Together for a Clean, Safe Restaurant experience through these trying times.

The Diplomat is a long standing hospitality business for over 60 years. It is our top priority to provide the best possible restaurant experience including the health and safety of our customers, employees and our community. During these new uncertain times with the constantly evolving COVID-19 situation, we’d like to take a moment to let you know that we are taking extra precautions and are committed to giving you the peace of mind to continue to enjoy the Diplomat Restaurant, our food and service experience with your friends and family.

As experienced restaurant professionals, we take sanitation, hygiene and food safety very seriously each and every day. Beyond the practices of safe food handling, such as hand washing, sanitizing surfaces and maintaining a sanitary environment, below are additional steps that we are taking in light of the current circumstances:

  • We have recommended employees take their body temperatures before coming to work and if unwell to seek advice from a healthcare professional. Additionally we are taking body temperatures at work and recording them daily. If unwell they are to leave immediately and seek and evaluation from a medical professional.
  • We are educating our employees on preventative measures provided by the CDC.
  • We have increased the frequency and extent of our cleaning practices, including wiping down all high contact surfaces in our restaurant every 30 minutes.
  • We have removed all salt & pepper shakers and soya sauce from all tables. They are being cleaning and sanitized between each use and provided upon request.
  • We have implemented heightened sanitation and hand-washing procedures for all staff. 
  • As an additional precaution all staff must wear gloves at all time as well as Front of House staff are required to wear masks at all times.

We will continue to closely monitor the current information and guidelines provided by the Department of Health, Public Health Agency of Canada, WHO, Canadian Restaurant Association, and local health departments as it is released, and modify our actions as needed to stay ahead of this situation.

Additionally you may notice some temporary adjustments to our hours of operation as we attempt to deal with the situation at hand, and balance the needs of our communities, our team and our business. For the most up to date information, please reference our website or Facebook.

We hope that the extra steps help bring some comfort and assurance of our efforts to keep you and our employees happy and healthy. In challenging times, it is especially important to unwind and enjoy good times with friends and family, and we hope you feel safe to do so at the Diplomat.

We would also like to offer you our takeout which is available 24 hours a day. Our delivery company, Checker Deliveries have taken on our protocols for delivery by having their body temperatures taken and by wearing gloves and masks.
